I created these instructions for my GF with the added intention of sharing it with you folks.
I dont care if you like Adam or not, so keep that to yourselves, but you can probably use these tools for other programs available out there.
I figured we are stuck with this device and we might as well make the most of it. Also, the grass is not always greener on the other side. So hopefully this will help ease some of the pains
Also, I cant seem to get the Pictures along with this, so if anyone wants the Word document with pics, send me a message and I will attach it and send it to you.
I will try other forums and maybe link them here.
Here’s how you get Adam Carolla. At least this is how I do it and it works well.
You will need two software programs: MP3tag and MyPodder.
They can be downloaded at the following sites:
http://www.podcastready.com/download.php
http://www.mp3tag.de/en/download.html
I think you can figure out the downloading, install and setup.
myPodder can be a pain as it tries to create an account and stuff. Its no so bad, just do it and don’t worry about getting set up with a channel, Ill give some steps next.
So once you start the program, click on “options”
It will open the Options tab. Once in the myOptions tab, select the “Add A Channel” highlighted in the right hand menu list.
Click on the “Subscribe To A Podcast Channel”
Click on “add address”
Enter the following URL in the following text box and click on “add now” button
http://www.971freefm.com/pages/podcast/43.rss
The following window will appear:
From there you should be successful and see the following screen. Click on “done”.
Your screen should look similar to this now. Select all the podcasts (only for the first time, after the first installation you will only get a list of the new episodes already preselected). Click “download podcasts”
You should see a screen like this as it downloads. Grab a cup of coffee and pet your cat.
Tahdah!!
Now you can close myPodder and open up the Mp3tag editor program we downloaded and installed earlier. The screen should look something like this, if not get to it.
I am not sure what your home page will look like the very first time, but this is what mine looks like. However, click on the directory button and you should see the following window pop up. Navigate to the following folder: C:\mypodder\Podcasts
OPTIONAL: If you want a picture with the album and song.
Try to save the following image below as a JPG.
The next step is not optional. Once you get to the C:\mypodder\Podcasts folder, you should see the list populated like so. Sort the file names (green arrow) such that the largest file name number is on top. Count down twelve (12) episodes and stop. You can double check because the next episode would start with name of “Wrap Up_xxxxx”. So leave those 12 episodes alone and select and delete the rest.
You should only have 12 episodes shown as shown above. Sort them so that the lowest number of the filename is on top. So now, locate the “Track” column (it will be in a different location. You can move the columns around to your liking) and double click slowly (and I mean click, pause, pause, click) on its cell. A text field should show up and enter in the track number based on its episode and/or filename. There is usually 12 episodes.
OPTIONAL: The jpg you saved earlier can be pasted in the lower left and used as the album cover.
IMPORTANT!!!!: After completing the steps above, SAVE it!! Press the blue disc icon (red arrow) and same the tags to the files. Don’t forget this in future updates. Do not proceed with the next steps if you don’t save!!
So now open up the C:\mypodder\Podcasts folder like so below.
Plug in your phone. After a bit the following window will appear and select “Open folder to view files”
You should see a folder called “music”. Open it and place the files from your computer onto here.
For the Instinct, I would suggest saving it to a directory named <DRIVE NAME>\music\Adam Carolla (just create a folder called Adam Carolla and manage your files there easily).
IMPORTANT!!! From now on you must remove the files from the phone before placing your new episodes inside. Or else you will get multiple episodes with the same name and you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart on the Instinct’s screen.
You can get advanced a bit and using the Mp3Tag editor to change the “Album Name” to the date of the episode itself. It would be nice if that information was provided by the radio website and/or using myPodder.
That’s it! Got to get it on!
